My Video Game music
Somehow over the years I managed to get some of my “music” published and put into various freeware and retail products. Honestly, most of the midi music listed below is quite painful to listen to – considering my absolute and complete lack of musical talent. A number of these songs were generated by abysmal emulations of other game songs that I enjoyed, created specifically to fit the Doom style of game music. Keeping those two facts in mind, coupled with my lack of reasonable tools to generate good midi work when these files were generated, leaves us with a large collection of musical train wrecks cleverly disguised as music.
ALL of the Doom engine midis below were generated in the same fashion. I would create a 4 channel .mod inside ScreamTracker (not a midi editor) then convert that .mod file to a .mid using a cool little program mod2midi.exe. After that, I would create additional tracks and convert them into other .mid files, finally loading each .mid all into my crippled Gravis Ultrasound midi software and combine all the tracks together, fix-up the drum channels and hope for the best. The results were often beyond painful…
Some of the .mod files I used to generate various midis are included below, plus a few other game relevant .mod and .s3m files generated over the years.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you, if your ears bleed, I am not responsible!
I have included my personal rating system below, also known as my “How bad is this music” rating system.
My “How bad is this music” rating system legend:
***** = Reasonable music, might actually constitute listening to more than once
**** = Getting somewhat stinky, but still passable
*** = Borderline crap
** = Dear god, is my soundcard seated properly?!
* = Ears are bleeding, call 911
TNT ICARUS MUSIC
FINAL DOOM MUSIC
HELL 2 PAY MUSIC
PERDITIONS GATE MUSIC
MISC GAME MUSIC, SCREAMTRACKER FILES
NOTE: Thanks to T-Rex for pushing me to put this back up. I had to dig up some old backups to locate these files to get it all back online!
Please upload all your midi files for Final Doom: TNT Evilution, TNT Icarus, Perdition’s Gate and Hell 2 Pay. They’re fun to listen to, even if some don’t sound that pleasing. Your music is epic win.
I’ll get that stuff back on soon! Thanks for the positive comments 🙂

Thank you for reuploading your music, Tom. It was worth the wait. 🙂
You’ve got some nice stuff there! BTW Just to let you know that, for some reason, the last 3 links (MISC GAME MUSIC) have quotation marks in the end causing a 404.
Thanks LkMax, good catch! Fixed.
I don’t know why but I really enjoy the song of the map 20 of the Doom II TNT game. I downloaded it from 2 other website but it wasn’t the same version (different end for one and strange battery for the other one).
In any case I find this music really nice especially the ending which is quite short but so bewitching.
Thank you =)
Hey Tom!
I’m (re-)discovering your work several years after playing Icarus, TNT: Evilution, thanks to a member of the Doomworld forum named NightFright, who recorded all music from Hell To Pay, Perdition’s Gate, Icarus: Alien Vanguard and other DOOM games with my Arachno SoundFont (available here if you want to check them out: http://www.arachnosoft.com/main/soundfont.php?music-packs)
And I’m very pleased to read that you actually used a tracker to compose these tunes at first, converting them in MIDI format afterwards… I thought I was the only one working like this! Except that I was still working like that 10 years after your TeamTNT releases…
You shouldn’t be so ashamed by your stuff, which remains quite popular among most DOOM enthusiasts. Listen to music remixes like those from Lorcan or Kinkiness, and you’ll have to admit that your tracks inspired some extremely talented musicians… you don’t have to be technically skilled to create catchy tunes like you did!
Funny enough, one of my recent favorites is… Perdition’s Gate ControlCV, which you only rated… 1 star, and that I discovered very recently with NightFright’s releases (I never played Perdition’s Gate). The S3M is cheesy (with the SC-55 power drums and this distortion chord guitar we heard so much on Amiga/MOD soundtracks, like those from Jazz Jackrabbit…), and the MIDI file sounds great with my SoundFont! The S3M has been looping under OpenMPT on my computer for a few minutes now (maybe 10) and, no, my ears are not bleeding.
I’ll keep them in my huge collection of game soundtracks… thanks for releasing them even if you didn’t want to…. Because we loved your work.
